When most people think of body building supplements, they think of those expensive, packages versions, which are available online, in gyms and from specialist stores. However, while those are the best-known body building supplements, there’s really no reason why you can’t make your own body building supplements at home.
In fact, some might argue that because you have complete control over what goes into your homemade body building supplements, you’re actually more likely to get the results you want.
Protein Shakes
Many of the commercial body building supplements out there come in the form of protein shakes. You can make your own protein shakes at home, quickly and easily, if you have a blender, and it will cost you a fraction of what commercial body building supplements would.
Start with a base of skimmed milk (you don’t want the added fat from whole milk.) Add low fat cottage cheese (high protein, low in fat) and some whey powder (you can buy this from health food stores) add a whole peeled banana, and blend.
Try adding different flavourings to your home made protein shakes, to ring the changes – but whatever you do, you’ll certainly find that they’re definitely cheaper, and tastier, than most of the commercial body building supplements out there.
Protein Bars
Another one of the more popular bodybuilding supplements out there are protein bars. You can make these at home too.
Melt about 16 ounces of peanut butter in the microwave, and then mix in a little milk, and a fair amount of whey powder. Add oats, nuts, raisins and other ingredients, and then leave the bars to harden overnight. Not only are these protein bars tasty and a high energy body building supplement, they’re also a fraction of the price of anything you can buy anywhere!
High Protein Snacks
High protein snacks are another great choice for home made body building supplements. Choose options like canned tuna, hard boiled eggs, low fat cheese and other high protein foods, or keep trail mix or peanuts with you when you’re out. All of these high protein snacks are essentially body building supplements, and the more you can fit into your diet, the better for your muscle building goals.
The Basics
If you want to make your own homemade body building supplements, you will need to buy a few basics, like whey powder. However, once you’ve bought them, you can use them to boost the protein content of nearly every meal you make and eat, all of which is great if you’re looking to boost your protein intake, and bulk up faster.
You could even substitute whey powder for powdered milk, or powdered eggs, in many of the recipes and dishes you already use – just remember that when it comes to muscle building, the most important thing for human bodies is amino acids, or protein.
That’s the secret of most of the commercial body building supplements out there – they pack a lot more protein into them than ordinary products, and since protein is necessary for muscle building, that’s an essential part of any body building regime.
Anything you can do to boost your protein intake, is, in a sense, your own version of body building supplements, so get creative, and get results.
